History
In 2024, L’Amalgame will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Inaugurated on 27 August 1994, the venue was hugely popular in the 1990s, thanks in particular to the rock and metal programming that made it famous. In 2011, the venue’s operations were restructured, and a professional office was brought in to manage the day-to-day running of the venue. As a result, attendance rose from 3,200 to 16,000 per year between 2010 and 2012. L’Amalgame has carved out a place for itself on the contemporary music scene in French-speaking Switzerland, inviting in a host of national and international artists.
The Amalgame gives pride of place to established and up-and-coming artists from Switzerland and abroad, with a focus on quality and musical discovery. The artistic programme is designed to be accessible to all, ranging from rock and rap to pop, metal and electronic music. In addition to its live programme, L’Amalgame offers a festive, offbeat programme of DJ nights, giving the public the chance to meet up and enjoy themselves away from the nightclub scene at reasonable prices.
