LaKuZ

Langenthal’s autonomous cultural and meeting centre – since 2001:

At the end of the 1990s, an active youth movement emerged in Langenthal, which set itself the goal of fighting for a free space. The activists emphasised their cause with various squats, demonstrations, petitions and actions.

In 2001, the time had come and the city of Langenthal let the LaKuZ association use the building on Farbgasse. Apart from using the building free of charge, the association is self-supporting and receives no subsidies.

LaKuZ has now been in existence for over 20 years as a platform for activities of all kinds, organised democratically and by consensus. Different generations of active people have participated in a diverse cultural and political programme to this day.

The LaKuZ currently has the following premises:

  • Concert room with bar, stage and seating
  • Infokafi Molotov with books, a 4k cinema room and a small shop
  • Large kitchen
  • Three band rooms (already occupied)
  • Workshop room
  • Sleeping room
  • Backstage area
  • Outdoor area with outdoor bar
