WELCOME TO THE RIDING SCHOOL

The Reitschule has stood for resistant, self-managed and emancipatory culture and politics since 1987. After a short break in January 2025, the Reitschule has reopened its doors. We have used our pause for reflection to reorganise and strengthen our networks and do our bit to resolve the situation around the building. With our manifesto, we have set our own rules to create a good and pleasant atmosphere for all guests and operators in our rooms and at our events.

The unpleasantness begins at our doorstep and affects us: That we sense an omnipresent powerlessness in the face of the precarious situations of refugees. That we cannot put an end to the lack of prospects for many people on the Schütz or elsewhere. That criminal organisations can keep the so-called drug misery alive. That we have had to watch for decades in front of and around the Reitschule as police resources fail to provide a sustainable solution and racist and marginalising structures and repressive policies are strengthened. Unsolved problems from all over the world are therefore standing in front of our big gate and are shaking the reliable elephant that is the Reitschule. We get in touch with our guests in and in front of the Reitschule, make our manifest basic attitudes and values understandable and together ensure a benevolent, respectful coexistence. We counter the controversial situation outside our gates with direct contact, we defend our manifesto as well as the rights of marginalised people and demand human dignity: on site, in cooperation with other venues and collectives, at a political level. As a cultural and meeting centre, we are socially and personally approachable.

We look forward to welcoming many guests in solidarity!

Structural measures will turn the forecourt back into what it should be: A place where everyone feels comfortable, where encounters are possible and good times can be spent.

DO THE REIT THING.

We are elephantine: a stable creature, strong and social, defensive and trumpeting, taking responsibility. We do this by countering the supposed panacea of repression with something: participative and social activities, diverse revitalisation, integration of marginalised people and many visitors showing solidarity.
