The Château Solaire association is the supporting association for the interim use of the Sommercasino Basel and is committed to the cultural revitalisation of the district. A central focus is on the younger generation, which is actively involved in the design of the programme. Our aim is to facilitate a variety of events that are organised and run by young people themselves. In addition, we offer flexible spaces that support creative projects and initiatives in order to create space for ideas and exchange.

Our mission statement is based on respect for the history of the Sommercasino, while at the same time celebrating new approaches. We promote cross-disciplinary and novel cultural formats that emphasise diversity and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are agile and adaptable and act in accordance with the needs of the community and the current trends of our target group.

A further focus is the de-professionalisation and prioritisation of a non-financially oriented use of the building. We prioritise open, community-based use that supports creative forms of expression beyond commercial thinking. Our aim is to create a space in which every idea finds an ear and people can realise their projects – regardless of financial means.
